Advantages of EC Technology

Overview of the advantages

  • high efficiency factor
  • low energy consumption
  • integrated monitoring function
(motor temperature, locked rotor and many more)
  • easy installation and connection (Plug & Play)
  • expanded functionality (pressure control and many more)
  • compact construction

Made in Germany

Our energy saving EC-motors are developed and manufactured exclusively on our modern production line at our headquarters in Künzelsau. Through the combination of know-how and innovative manufacturing technology we attain a quality that meets the highest standards.

Energy-related Products Directive (ErP)

The European Union mandates the minimum energy efficiency requirements for energy using products with the Energy-related Products Directive 2009/125/EG (ErP).

Rosenberg EC-fans are 100% compliant and fall below all maximum permissible values.

Tested precision

Modern measuring systems are available in our own company laboratories. Here electrical, fluidic and circuitry related properties of our fans and air handling units can be measured and analyzed. Our testing chambers are regularly inspected and certified by TÜV Süd according to DIN EN ISO 5801. Through this an independent entity confirms the reliability and accuracy of the testing equipment used and hereby confirms the precision and performance data of our products.

Energy Efficiency

Our engineers and technicians are constantly working on improving the energy efficiency of our products – with success. Our motors with modern EC-technology achieve efficiency ratings over 90% and save up to 50% energy versus traditional motor technology. In comparison to EC 60034-30, Rosenberg EC-motors have an efficiency rating greater than IE4. The lower energy consumption is not only good for the environment, but lowers the operating costs for our customers.

Expanded Functionality

The EC-technology offers more than just efficiency. Rosenberg EC-motors are maintenance free and low-noise. In addition, the integrated, intelligent electronics take care of control, communication and monitoring functions. Steplessly variable speed settings are possible as well as the creation of pressure, air flow and air quality parameters. Parameters essential to the proper operation, i.e. voltage or temperature, are monitored automatically. With this, our EC-products meet the highest standards in regards to energy efficiency, cost effectiveness and high air quality.

Amortization

Quality pays for itself. The slightly higher investment costs compared to conventional motors is usually amortized within a short operating time due to lower energy consumption und greater ease of installation (no transformer controller, motor overload switch, thermocouple meter, VFD, or phase angle controller are necessary).

Leading the Way with Energy Efficient EC Technology

Company Profile - The Rosenberg Group

Air conditioning and ventilation technology is our world

Air is our element – moving it intelligently and efficiently is our passion. Since 1981 we have been developing and producing adjustable external rotor motors, fans and air handling units.

Our headquarters is located in Künzelsau. German Engineering skill is the basis of our development work and drives our innovation. As a worldwide company we are represented where our customers need us.

The continuous exchange of information between customers and employees comes first with us. Consequently, we can permanently optimise products and quality to respond flexibly to all of our customers’ needs.

Our success factors

The complete range of motors, fans and air handling units is mainly manufactured in the Rosenberg Group’s own production sites.  From technical advice via assembly to delivery of air handling units that are wired ready for connection, the customer receives all services first-hand from the Rosenberg Group.

Our production steps – from motor to controller – make us more independent from suppliers and allow us to respond flexibly to our customers’ wishes. In short: We are good at troubleshooting.  We are already in direct contact with the customer during the development and planning phase and therefore we can fulfil special requirements quickly and on an individual basis. Our aim is to ensure that our clients are satisfied.

About 1,700 qualified and experienced employees are employed in the punching plant, casting plant, as well as in the motor, fan, and air handling unit production to ensure immediate assembly and quick delivery.
Through a combination of human know how and innovative production technology we achieve a quality which meets the highest requirements.

Our claim - we stand for uncompromising quality

We do not make any compromises on the quality and reliability of our products. We have obtained certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001, Eurovent certification (Airbox Air Handling Units) as well as being members of the RLT-Herstellerverband Raumlufttechnische Geräte, the German manufacturers’ association for ventilation and air conditioning equipment, which confirm our expertise and know how in the development and production of ventilation equipment.

In our own company laboratories we have modern measurement equipment at our disposal to measure and analyse the flow and sound characteristics of our fans and air handling units.  Our test chambers for recording performance characteristics are tested and certified by TÜV Süd according to the European standard DIN EN 5801. Therefore the reliability and accuracy of the Rosenberg measurement equipment, and hence the accuracy of the products’ performance data have been confirmed by an independent body. The tested data and curves are the sole basis for our product catalogues and selection program.

Code of Conduct

Our target is to maintain a corporate culture that is characterised by respect for our fellow human beings, honesty and integrity. We have concretised these values on ethical standards together with our responsibility towards society and the environment in our Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is mandatory for all employees.

Our managers play a special role in this. They are required to exemplify the behaviour described in the Code of Conduct and ensure compliance with it within their area of responsibility.

Functional Principle

The Rosenberg EC-Motor

The Rosenberg EC-motor (EC = Electronically Commutated) is an inverter-fed synchronous motor with permanent magnets in external rotor construction.

The motor position is dependent upon voltage supplied via an inverter module (similar to the principle of a frequency inverter). The EC commutation electronics are different from a frequency inverter in that they decide how the motor phases in the stator are supplied with current (commutation) depending on position, rotation direction and default.  Permanent magnets in the rotor produce a magnetic field which is required for full load production. A high efficiency, low noise, and continuous motor speed control is possible with this. An assembly flange on the rotor is used for impeller assembly. Depending on the motor type, a terminal box is avaible with cable screw connections or connection cable for easy and quick connection.

Depending on the application area is possible to adopt further control functions (e.g. constant pressure control, volume flow control, temperature control, air quality control).
