For a pleasant feeling of well-being
The Rosenberg SupraBox COMFORT energy recovery units are space-saving and distinguished primarily by their high energy efficiency. They provide an energy-saving ventilation system for real estate such as restaurants, retail shops, hotels, office buildings and many more.
As a vertical (V) connection option, the SupraBox COMFORT units are available in 3 sizes with different nominal air flow rates. These range from 1.000 - 2,000 m³/h.
SupraBox COMFORT V - Unit Overview
SupraBox COMFORT | Nominal air flow rate | External pressure increase |
---|---|---|
1000 V | 1,000 m³/h | 100-200 Pa |
1600 V | 1,600 m³/h | 100-250 Pa |
2000 V | 2,000 m³/h | 200-500 Pa |
Properties
Hygiene requirements
The SupraBox COMFORT energy recovery units are manufactured in accordance with VDI 6022. The units are smooth-surfaced (inside and outside coil-coated - RAL 7035) and easy to clean.
Casing
The units have a stable, frameless housing with double-shell side walls made of 1 mm galvanised sheet steel (coated). The insulation thickness is 60 mm.
Heat recovery
Highly efficient counterflow heat exchangers with over 90 % efficiency are used for heat recovery. Complete separation of supply and extract air without odour transfer is guaranteed. Moisture recovery is possible on request.
Filter
Fine dust filters of filter class ISO ePM1 ≥ 50 % (formerly F7) are used as standard for the supply air and filters of filter class ISO ePM10 ≥ 50 % (formerly M5) for the extract air.
Tube / duct connections
The connections are designed to be sufficiently large. The connection dimensions comply with the customary industrial standard nominal sizes (round connection).
EC fans
Free-running impellers with backward curved centrifugal impellers and modern EC motors manufactured in-house allow for a quiet and energy-efficient operation of the entire series.
Integrated Control
The SupraBox COMFORT compact ventilation units come standard with an integrated control. All internal unit components are already pre-wired. Temperature control is possible with an optionally available heater/cooler. Many control functions are integrated into the software and can also easily be subsequently activated. A control unit for setting the target values is included as standard.

» Defrosting concept / antifreeze protection
Freezing of the heat exchanger
The surface temperature of the counterflow plate heat exchanger decreases with falling outside temperatures. If this falls below the dew point of the exhaust air, condensate drops on the plates of the heat exchanger. The dew point depends on the absolute humidity content of the air. Although the condensation energy of the water increases the efficiency of the counterflow plate heat exchanger that is related to the air supply, freezing takes place here under certain conditions.
If the units of the SupraBox COMFORT series are used in applications where the exhaust air is only slightly humid, heat recovery can work well below -10°C without losses. If the exhaust air comes from wet rooms, however, antifreeze protection may already be needed at -5°C and below.
Since the average outdoor temperature in Central Europe is typically above 0°C during the heating season, there are only a few days a year where antifreeze protection is necessary. Thus, efficiency rating reductions in this area have a diminishing impact on the efficiency rating of the unit over the whole year.
Intelligent 3-sequence defrosting concept
All compact air handling units in the SupraBox COMFORT series include an intelligent 3-sequence defrosting concept. The special feature here is that the integrated bypass of the equipment is NOT used to defrost the counterflow plate heat exchanger. An expensive, highly dimensioned reheater is not needed because the heat recovery is not bypassed.
Depending on the settings done during the commissioning as well as the accessories used, up to 3 sequences are available to defrost the counterflow plate heat exchanger. These are explained as follows.
The counterflow plate heat exchanger is monitored for freezing using a differential pressure switch. If the heat exchanger freezes, this is detected by the differential pressure switch and the defrosting operation is initiated automatically by the control.
During commissioning, the antifreeze strategy to be used can be defined (sequences).
- If an imbalance of the fans is allowed (adjustable via keypad), the supply air fan is reduced by 30% in the event of freezing to generate defrosting from the warmer exhaust air.
- If an electronic preheating is connected (accessory) and released (adjustable via keypad), this is activated in the event of freezing to preheat the outside air and thus defrost the heat exchanger.
- If both options have been released, the supply air will be reduced first. If this is not sufficient, the preheating is activated after 5 minutes.
- If neither measure is effective or none of the measures are possible (missing release), the SupraBox COMFORT is disabled and an alarm is displayed. After 10 minutes, the SupraBox COMFORT restarts the fans automatically and the sequences are "executed" again. An acknowledgement of the alarm is not necessary.
Antifreeze protection - preheating for prevention
Optionally, the preheating can be used preventively by setting the control unit of the SupraBox COMFORT unit. If this is the case, the pre-heating is already switched on at an adjustable outdoor air temperature to prevent the heat exchanger freezing.
